At some point, you've probably heard someone say about a band, "you've got to see them live." The Band of Heathens is one of those bands. This is Southern-style roots rock at its most sublime from a group that has earned a reputation for their onstage synergy and crowd-pleasing power. But - "you've got to see them live." Their sound recalls the classic '70s Americana of the Band, the golden California folk harmony of the Eagles and the heavy but soulful boogie of the Black Crowes, all with a bottomless dose of New Orleans swagger; but the Band of Heathens' powerful sound overshadows its influences. This is a show for folks who appreciate improvisation and a good jam, but crave a great song. MORE ABOUT THE BAND OF HEATHENS With a growing resume of key shows and broadcasts to their credit, (Bonnaroo, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits TV Show and ACL Festival among them), this is a band on the rise. They have been honored as Best New Band at the Austin Music Awards, was just named #1 of the "Top 50 Bands Right Now" by the Alternate Root, and was nominated in various categories at the Americana Music Awards over the past few years. The Wall Street Journal's Jim Fusilli called theirs the best set at South By Southwest 2009. And the rest of the press has been equally effusive: The Dallas Morning News calls them "a must-see show." For The Chicago Tribune, the band felt "refreshingly different," and The New York Times called their show at Brooklyn's Union Hall "hungry, unflagging and lean." OPENER: WHITEHORSE Whitehorse’s live show is built on mesmerizing guitar work and smoldering vocal chemistry, but also brings much more to the stage with complex layers of percussion, keyboard and telephone receiver amplification, tangled like an embrace with the help of looping pedals. Their sold out Winter Garden Theatre show in February, 2012 signaled their unquestionable arrival as a band. Concert Tickets $22
