To a pair of Western ears raised on the blues and rock ‘n roll, Bombino’s music sounds at once foreign and familiar. The group, named after singer and lead guitarist Omara “Bombino” Moctar, fuses the rhythms and melodies of traditional West African music with electric blues, rock and reggae. He’s a sixstring prodigy who has toured the world, and performed locally at the Newport Folk Festival, Jazz Fest, and NPR Tiny Desk Concert. His introduction to a wider American audience came with his debut album “Nomad,” which was produced by Dan Aurebach of the Black Keys and became on of Rolling Stone's 50 Best Albums of 2013. "Bombino’s tone distinguishes him as an emerging artist with something to say. Bright and cutting on the upswing, percussive on the downbeat, snatches of Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix and even Jerry Garcia can be heard in the sound Bombino creates." - No Depression Concert Tickets $28 General Admission; Limited Seating Available on a First Come, First Serve Basis
