Somewhere between the Balkans and Bram Stoker lies Connecticut's own Caravan of Thieves. COT bring a uniquely macabre sense to gypsy jazz, and put out a furious sound like Django Reinhardt in an old New England graveyard. Theatrical and humorous, they bring whimsy and cheek with utterly supernatural musicianship and visions of carnival sideshow. Their unapologetic gypsy jam comes complete with moments of jazz, improvisation, participation, snaps, claps, stomps, and a barrage of junk percussion. Caravan of Thieves is a unique kind of ruckus that cannot be ignored.
Beginning as the duo of Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni. The bohemian couple later added violin and bass with Ben Dean and Brian Anderson. The quartet have gone onto great things, performing alongside the likes of The Punch Brothers, Emmylou Harris, Iron and Wine, The Decemberists, and more.
