With a masterful balance of rock, jazz, and blues, Edgar Winter helped create some of the most iconic hits of the 1970’s including “Free Ride,” and the unforgettable instrumental, “Frankenstein.”

After finding early success with his 1970 single “Tobacco Road,” he began a career as an instrumental innovator. An early adopter of synthesizers, he was perhaps the first to “wear” a keyboard; with this exploration of technology and his unique look Edgar Winter became known for his aesthetic almost as much as for his classic songs.
