Celebrate the life of Patricia Baxter Pelton by joining us for An Evening of Music & Dance to benefit the Staples High School Tuition Grant’s Patricia Baxter Pelton Scholarship This scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing education in the arts. Patricia loved to make things, and she also loved to make young people believe in themselves and follow their dreams. She spent most of her life in Westport, CT. She attended Staples High School, Rhode Island School of Design and Parsons School of Design, married, raised families, and always pursued the arts - as a fashion designer, painter, jewelry designer and creator. We hope you can help to make Patsy’s dream a reality by contributing to the scholarship in her name. Performers include: Morgan Griffin studied dance with and performed in works choreographed by David Dorfman, Robyne Watkins, Heidi Henderson, Lisa Race, Adele Myers, and Shani Collins-Achille, Nicholas Leichter, Kyle Abraham, and Kendra Portier. Morgan attended Bates Professional Training Program where she studied with Michael Foley and performed in a work by Adam Baruch. She has presented her work Last Chance for Bronze at RAW Artists, The Figment Festival, and at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas. Her new piece, Current reality, all over again, has been presented at Tedx Connecticut College, International Festival of Arts and Ideas, and the Dance Complex. Morgan has also performed with band Portier as well as Adele Myers and Dancers. Nina Pelton is a NY-based cabaret artist and band singer of extraordinary vocal power and stylistic range. Her deeply emotional and subtly nuanced singing covers a wide range of material from jazz standards to Aretha Franklin to the Rolling Stones. She sings with several funk bands and has performed at the legendary cabarets Don’t Tell Mama, The Duplex and the Oak Room. She has performed in London at venues including Crazy Coqs, Cellar Door and as a headlining act at private parties. Nina’s vocal style is inviting, unique, and powerful. A vocal excursion that will leave you wanting more. Christine Cornell is a CT native and NY based actress. She has just starred in a musical entitled The Apple and Other Slip-ups and performed pieces from the album Trio by Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. She opened for Alice Ripley in the concert, ALL SONDHEIM. Other credits include Dig A Little Deeper, singing alongside Broadway’s Mamie Parris and Jacob Smith, and Eddie Egan in the one night only performance of Michael Valenti’s Lovesong: the Musical.
