Best known as a Rhythm Devil with The Grateful Dead, Mickey Hart’s music is the stuff of legend. His work is an expedition into the the soul and possibilities of the drum. His latest project, The Mickey Hart Band, bring his two worlds together, mixing the jammy rock of The Dead with Hart’s percussive world music. The Mickey Hart band is anthropology with a backbeat, fueling audiences get up, dance, and learn about the world around them. Mickey Hart’s career is sprawling, from his work for the 1996 Olympic Games, the soundtracking of Apocalypse Now, Nasa, The Library of Congress, George Lucas, not to mention The Grateful Dead. His music has made him a respected composer, performer, historian and conservationist. Hart has been sought after, because there is something special in his work which appeals to all of us.
