Showcasing their talents this year on FTC StageOne are Irena Hart, Joe Beleznay, Jon Kelly, Bubba Ericson, and some surprise guests. Doors open at 6pm with a reception, followed by live music from 8pm to 10pm. All proceeds will be donated to the charity. Harmony4kidz is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that enriches lives by bringing music education opportunities to underprivileged children in the Greater Bridgeport Area. The charity was founded by acoustic guitarist/folk singer Irena Hart in 2006, when after meeting homeless children living in Union Square Park, she was inspired to write her song “Save The World.” Currently, Harmony4kidz offers 4-week music workshops for children aged 3-5 at Action for Bridgeport Community Development, Inc. (ABCD), and individual vocal and piano lessons for 8 to 12 year olds. ABCD is a non-profit agency designed as the anti-poverty agency for the Greater Bridgeport Area in September of 1964 by the Office of Economic Opportunity. Working with people toward the eradication of the “paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty in this nation,” ABCD presently serves more than 35,000 individuals annually through its broad range of services in a 6-town area covering Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford, and Trumbull, Connecticut. Hart’s two passions are united in Harmony4kidz: a love of music and a desire to help at-risk children whose parents cannot afford voice, piano, or guitar lessons. Hart believes that, “music is a powerful way to get people involved in helping each other…helping those less fortunate is a wonderful way to give back.” “This holiday concert is a very exciting fundraising opportunity for Harmony4kidz to make a bigger impact in our community,” says Hart. About Irena Hart Irena Hart is a Ukrainian born acoustic guitarist, singer/songwriter, poet and activist.
