The Independents is a musical comedy/drama that tells the (somewhat) true story of folk-rock group the Sweet Remains. Celebrating the film’s general release, FTC will present this special screening of the film, followed by a Q&A discussion with founding-band member (and local resident), Greg Naughton, who wrote and directed the film (moderated by FTC’s artistic director, John Reid). The movie debuted at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where The Hollywood Reporter hailed it “An extremely engaging film (that) subverts all the cliches of the star-is-born story and proves there are plenty of offbeat ways to satisfy audiences without hewing to formula.” It then won "Best Feature Film" at The Omaha Film Festival and went on to a very successful festival run. It begins a “virtual” theatrical run with Angelika & Laemmle Cinemas on Feb 26th, followed by wider TVOD release March 9th. Join us for this special opportunity to watch the film and discuss its inspiration and process. Concert Tickets $22
