More On This Event

Following the screening there will be a Q&A with the director of the Jandek on Corwood, moderated by hosts Gorman Bechard & Faith Marek.

Filmmaker Gorman Bechard (Color Me Obsessed: a film about The Replacements, Pizza A Love Story) and producer/editor Faith Marek (the upcoming Best Video, the movie) curate and host a monthly series of off-the-beaten-track music documentaries. Films that haven’t been widely seen, but that nonetheless can captivate and entertain both music and film lovers alike. These are the hidden gems that somehow passed you by. Prepare to have your soul shaken…in the best way possible!

Directed by: Chad Freidrichs

Genre: Documentary

Released: 2003

Runtime: 1h 28m

Since 1978, Jandek has independently released over 120 albums, and yet few people have ever heard of him. This documentary about the veteran reclusive folk/blues artist is unlike most popular music documentaries, as the subject himself is not seen in the film in any way; instead, various critics, disc jockeys and journalists, many of whom have had some contact with the notoriously reclusive artist, discuss Jandek, his equally mysterious independent record label Corwood Industries, and his music. It’s a fascinating look at the longest-running, weirdest, loneliest enigma in popular music.
