Description
Study Up

Canyon-country mysticism, Laurel Canyon warmth, and harp-driven songwriting that feels both timeless and otherworldly.

With Graceland Way, Mikaela Davis steps into her most expansive vision yet. Written and recorded in a hillside home in Los Angeles County, the album captures a period of deep creative immersion — a space where time slowed and instinct led the way. The result is a “canyon country” epic that threads a neo-western sensibility through the lineage of Laurel Canyon, the mythos of Elvis’s Graceland, and Paul Simon’s spirit of reinvention.

At the heart of the record is Davis’ luminous harp, an instrument she has long pushed beyond traditional boundaries. Here, it shimmers, glides, and grounds each song, weaving through pedal steel, layered harmonies, and cinematic arrangements. Co-written and co-produced with guitarist John Lee Shannon and longtime collaborator Dan Horne, Graceland Way unfolds like a journey — following an unnamed antihero through love, disillusionment, mysticism, and self-discovery.

Live, Davis translates that emotional arc with warmth and quiet intensity. Her voice carries a glowing clarity; her harp adds both weight and wonder. The songs balance light and shadow, grace and struggle — always searching for the beauty that exists where the two meet.

This is folk music with a cosmic edge, intimate yet widescreen. A place you arrive at and realize you were meant to find all along.
