Railroad Earth defies definition — and that’s exactly the point. Like their spiritual forebears, The Band and The Grateful Dead, this beloved six-piece blends bluegrass instrumentation with rock-and-roll swagger, folk lyricism, and improvisational freedom. Over 25 years, they’ve carved out a sound that’s entirely their own — both timeless and forward-looking.
From the moment they emerged with The Black Bear Sessions in 2001, Railroad Earth has captured audiences with music that’s earthy yet elevated, classic yet unpredictable. Their live shows — joyful, exploratory, and deeply human — have made them festival legends and fan favorites at venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre. They even earned the honor of setting John Denver’s unpublished lyrics to music on their acclaimed EP The John Denver Letters.
Now celebrating their 25th Anniversary Tour, Railroad Earth continues to prove why NPR called them “a jam-grass engine that’s let no moss grow under its rustic wheels.” Expect soaring musicianship, spontaneous magic, and the kind of communal spirit that reminds you why live music matters.
The Alpaca Gnomes are a vibrant, stomp-and-groove, 7-piece original rock-folk jam band hailing from Bridgeport, CT. With violin, sax, percussion, and guitars weaving into their dynamic rhythm section, the Gnomes create a sound that’s eclectic, expansive, and built for the stage.
Their versatility has landed them on bills with acts as wide-ranging as Living Colour, Blues Traveler, Railroad Earth, Anders Osborne, and the Funky Meters, proving that their genre-blending style defies easy categorization. Whether channeling rootsy folk, jam-fueled improvisation, or funk-driven grooves, the Gnomes always bring infectious energy and an inclusive spirit.
Part of the fun is the community they’ve built. Their devoted fans — known as “Gnomies” — show up in the band’s signature gnome hats, creating a colorful, joyous atmosphere that turns each show into something more like a gathering.
From headlining festivals to private stages like ESPN’s NCAA Championship pre-party in Pasadena, The Alpaca Gnomes have grown into one of Connecticut’s most beloved bands. Their live shows are more than music — they’re a celebration.
