Jon McLaughlin is an artist on the crest of a personal renaissance. Since parting ways with Island Records he has experienced a groundswell of support and inspiration. His latest effort, Forever If Ever, is a fresh and honest new chapter for the Academy Award nominated singer songwriter. “There isn’t a note on the record that I didn’t spend hours scrutinizing over,“ says Jon, “I feel like it’s a real connection to me.” The record, released on Razor and Tie, gave him an opportunity to produce without the scrutiny of a major label. The lyrics are more personal this time around, and the attention paid to each tone gives the album a cleansing variety. Like his influences (think Billy Joel, Elton John, and Ben Folds) McLaughlin’s songs are sometimes topical, often personal, and always on point.
