A child of the islands, it was almost inevitable that Mishka would be drawn to reggae, Rastafari, and the natural mystic that inhabits his music and soul. His music carries a unique vibe, not unlike a combination of Peter Tosh, Jimmy Buffet, Bob Dylan and The Police mixed with real roots reggae acts like Culture, Marley and Burning Spear.

He began with a career in windsurfing, representing Bermuda and gradually made the full switch to creating soulful, folk- and rock-influenced reggae music. With an enormous following in the UK and Japan, he has a tight-knit and fast-expanding fan base in the States. Mishka is also the face of O’Neill’s new line of eco-friendly surf clothing and he embodies the summery spirit of reggae, something he embraces in every part of his life.

If you want to know how deeply sincere this internally known reggae artist goes, just ask his new boss. That’s right, after Mishka recorded his third album in ‘05, Above the Bones, he connected with the one and only Matthew McConaughey over a shared appreciation for reggae and was welcomed onto his record label, j.k. livin. McConaughey says, “It’s conscious reggae that reminds me to bless up, keep a high eye, work hard, love hard, remember true, hope faithfully, give thanks and just keep livin.”
