A child of both swamp and Chicago blues, Tab Benoit was – without exaggeration – born directly on and around the Bayou. He grew up hanging out with blues guitar greats like Tabby Thomas, Raful Neal and many others at the Baton Rouge’s Blues Box music club and learned from the best, first hand. Benoit is one of the most passionate and focused blues guitarists on the circuit today and with such a fast playing style. We always wonder how the music flows so easily through his fingers, and are never surprised when his strings only last through a couple songs. Going beyond the music, Benoit works hard to save the land that birthed the blues by raising awareness of the receding wetlands all over Louisiana, with his “Voice of the Wetlands” organization. “Almost nobody can beat Tab Benoit for playing raw, dirty-sounding roadhouse blues. There is something about when he gets to rocking that gets everybody going in the way the best blues and rock ‘n’ roll should. Even his guitar tone has that slash-through-your-speakers/earbuds psycho tone that everyone from Travis Wammack to Johnny Guitar Watson to Earl King perfected in the middle of last century. – Off Beat Concert Tickets $48
