Description
Study Up
Leo Kottke has earned a reputation as a premier finger-picker, slide master, and 12-string virtuoso. Known for adding a bit of humor and troubadour-style storytelling to his live performances, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to experience Kottke in the intimate setting of StageOne. Technically and tool-wise, Leo Kottke belongs in the subculture of (mostly) instrumental steel-string guitarists of a loosely progressive folk nature. But the tools don’t make — or tightly define — this musician, a blissfully odd man out in the guitar scene for the past 50 years. Kottke has defined his own school of cool. Along with John Fahey and Robbie Basho, Leo Kottke was one of the most influential acoustic guitarists to emerge in the 60s, bringing a unique sound and virtuosic flourishes to the instrument. Although he has also recorded as a singer/songwriter, it's the propulsive fingerstyle playing of his solo instrumental work that has cemented his reputation as a true innovator.
